I just merged a <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cosimo\/perl6-lwp-simple\/pull\/6\" rel=\"nofollow\">a pull request<\/a> with a patch to remove all existing URL parsing to replace it with the <a href=\"http:\/\/github.com\/ihrd\/uri\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">new URI class<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That&#39;s fantastic, because:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>it reduces the amount of code in LWP::Simple<\/li>\n<li>the URI module is based on <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ihrd\/uri\/blob\/master\/lib\/IETF\/RFC_Grammar\/URI.pm\" rel=\"nofollow\">the actual grammar for URIs<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ihrd\/uri\/blob\/master\/lib\/IETF\/RFC_Grammar\/IPv6.pm\" rel=\"nofollow\">IPv6 addresses<\/a>. Plain and simple. It doesn&#39;t adhere to the standard. <b>It is the standard<\/b>. Isn&#39;t that amazing?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, just clicky clicky and the pull request was merged. Running the test suite confirmed that everything still works fine passing all tests. Can it get much better than this? :)<\/p>\n<p>If you want to have a look at Perl 6 code, <a href=\"http:\/\/modules.perl6.org\" rel=\"nofollow\">modules.perl6.org<\/a> is the place to go for inspiration.
